I now advertise in around 15 magazines & yours are the most productive for me. One reason is that the magazines have a lot of content in them. A good balance between adverts & informative/interesting articles. Some other publications are a bit thin on both fronts. For this reason, I think people are inclined to read through the magazine & look forward to the next edition. This means the advert gets viewed regularly by a greater proportion of the readers. It has certainly proved a worthwhile investment, that I am keen to keep supporting.

I am delighted with the results

I have advertised in both the Barton Bugle and New Milton Mail for a few years now and I am delighted with the results, my initial reason for advertising was to enable local people to have easily obtainable contact details for me, should they need my services. For many years I thought that I didn’t need to advertise due to being local and relying on word of mouth, which is fine until somebody hears about you and wants to make contact but can’t find you advertising anywhere?

At first I didn’t imagine it would bring much new business my way, but to my delight it does so regularly.

Recently I also started advertising in the Highcliffe Herald, which has also been well worth it.

I would recommend these great little magazines to anyone locally who is heard but really needs to be seen.

The nice thing about dealing with Gary is that there is no pressure

My dealings with Gary Prince and his Milton Mail/Barton Bugle have been in two contexts: the advertising of a self catering Isle of Wight holiday cottage for winter breaks and as a trustee of a registered charity for children with special needs. The nice thing about dealing with Gary is that there is no pressure on the client to buy space and the way he is able to respond flexibly to meet a client's advertising needs such as seasonal requirements. I have also found him very public spirited in the way he gives free publicity to various charitable activities. Regarding the magazine, his strategy for making it interesting for the reader has been to encourage advertisers with certain expert knowledge to write a different item of advice in each issue. This means that there are many items offering everyday advice; Not only does this make the magazine more interesting to the reader, it must generate more interest in the advertiser.

You mention periodically in your correspondence to we Advertisers that it is wise to persevere with advertising once you start because the benefits will be gained the longer you appear in the publication.
I just wanted to respond to this by wholeheartedly agreeing with your comments. It naturally takes a while for any advertisement to become recognised and remembered but speaking from experience of advertising with you since you started the Barton Bugle my advert has remained unchanged and the response grows more and more the longer I keep it there. Now after 2 plus years I am really feeling the benefit. Please do pass on my comments, if they would be useful, to anyone who is planning their advertising. In short the longer you stay the better it pays - definitely.

We are very happy with the response we get from the magazines

We have been advertising with Gary for just under a year, as a fledgling business we decided that we needed to give ourselves a year's worth of advertising to test the water. We chose to advertise in all 3 of Gary's magazines as we believed it was a suitable place for our business, we felt that being in the magazine constantly would make a difference. We have been advertised in the Bugle and Mail since we opened and have found the service and support we have received to be excellent. Since starting my business I have used local advertising, the first few months I got the odd call, but once beyond six months the calls accelerated as people see your advert, the van with advertising on and most importantly “Word of Mouth”.
