About Prince Publications

The Barton Bugle, New Milton Mail, The Mercury and Highcliffe Herald are community magazines distributed, to over 35,000 local residents. Over 95% are posted through letterboxes, guaranteed.

My name is Gary Prince, although originally from the North West I have lived with my wife Sally on the South Coast since 2000 – firstly in Wareham until 2003 and then Barton-on-Sea to present day.

I was manager of the local golf club for nearly 7 years but needed a change. We love where we live and wanted to stay in the local area – so after seeing similar magazines published by friends, I decided to create the Barton Bugle.

In December 2009 the first edition came off the press and due to its success this was followed closely by the New Milton Mail in March 2010.The Highcliffe Herald was launched in 2012 and the Mercury was added in 2017. The aims of the magazines are to help, entertain and inform local people, including businesses and community groups

Keep up the good work!

“Just a note to thank you again for providing us free coverage for our charity in successive monthly copies of your excellent magazines. From the feedback I am getting they are being valued and well read in Barton/New Milton, and thus meet a real community need. Keep up the good work!”

Malcolm Swan
New Milton Community Association

Having been self employed, worked in the retail sector and operated a medium size business, I felt could help local businesses in promoting themselves to the community. This has proven to be the case with many local companies being successful in creating new business through their advertising in the magazines.

Community groups and charities are given free space to promote themselves and their events and articles of local interest are provided to make the magazines relevant and interesting to local residents. The magazines are very popular with locals – so much so that many have told me that they have kept every copy!
